Central Milling has long been part of Utah history. Established in 1867, it is one of the oldest companies in Utah still in business today. Central Milling became a leading producer of flour in this area with the use of the roller mill system. The Logan river still runs under the building, and prior to the early 1970’s aided in running the mill.
In 1917, Herbert R. Weston became the owner after buying out the 50 shareholders that founded the mill. The Weston family operated the mill for 80 years producing their famous Golden West and Red Rose pancake flours.
In August 1997 Wheatland seed, Giusto's Vitagrain and Bay Bread acquired ownership of the
mill and brought the business of organic milling to the area. The new owners are determined to continue the long tradition of quality flour milling.
By becoming a partner in the mill, Bay Bread is able to have organic grains milled to their exact specifications. Today, Bay Bread purchases all its flours from Central Milling, over 2 million pounds a year! Our commitment to finding only the best flours shows up every day in the wonderful colors and aroma of our organic artisan breads.
